Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the arts of performing, and which are now known as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her to be in being in the "child prodigy" category. For a child with Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family did this naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin in Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was a contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin and also owned part of the famous Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons' first FitzSimons children. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was an athlete at heart and loved playing athletic games. The passion for sports was matched by the natural ability to perform. As evidenced by getting almost every Feis awards for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. At the age of 14 she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying operatic and classical vocals.
