
Jennifer was always hoping to become a multitasking superstar. As a child she was a fan of a range of genres in music, including Afro-Caribbean music like salsa, merengue, bachata and merengue, as well as mainstream music like pop, hip-hop and R&B. She was a huge fan of both film and music. West Side Story, a musical composed by Rita Moreno (1961), was her main source of inspiration. At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Apart from becoming a budding professional entertainer Jennifer was also a Catholic girl who spent eight years at the Catholic primary school known as Holy Family, located within The Bronx, before graduating from an all girls prep school, Preston High School after a four-year stay. Jennifer, a talented athlete who participated in track and fields and tennis at school was also an exceptional pupil. She spent most of her raising her children in a two-story home within the Castle Hill neighborhood. Jennifer left her home along with her parents at the age of 18. During this time, Lopez worked at a law firm , while taking dancing positions at night.
